when starting up the cd, it told me to not put the cluster on an existing network or it might cause problems with the DHCP. I am on a university campus. How would I be able to connect these computers to the network and allow them to have internet access without crashing their DHCP? Its not the first time this will have happened and I can't afford to get in anymore trouble.
You need to have 2 NICs on the frontend node, 1 for internet, and one for the cluster. Just make sure not to choose the NIC that connects to the university network when you run pelican_setup. With PelicanHPC v2.2 rc2, you can share the frontend's internet connection with the compute nodes, which is convenient if you need to add packages.
